14-year veteran Matt Hasselbeck’s time with the Tennessee Titans has come to an end.

Matt HasselbeckHasselbeck is now a free agent after parting ways with the Titans on Monday.

Per our own Terry McCormick, the Titans released the 37-year-old quarterback on Monday. Hasselbeck spent the last two seasons in Nashville, coming over as a free agent in 2011 after earning three trips to the Pro Bowl as a member of the Seattle Seahawks.

The quarterback had one year remaining on a $5.5 million contract that he was willing to restructure, but the parties could not come to an agreement.

Hasselbeck started 21 of a possible 32 regular season games for the Titans during his two-year stint, going 11-10 while completing 61.8% of his passes. But the writing was on the wall that this was just a temporary gig, since the organization spent a top-eight selection on Jake Locker during the 2011 draft.

The Titans will now turn to Locker as their franchise quarterback of the future, while Hasselbeck will contemplate whether or not he wants to try and stick around the NFL for another season.
