Quarterback says he's not concerned about contract talks Aaron Wilson
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady isn't sweating his unresolved contract situation.
In the wake of a Yahoo! Sports report that Brady and the Patriots have a "growing sense of disconnect" with no substantive talks having taken place, Brady said tonight that he isn't worried.
"Things happen," said Brady, per ESPN Boston. "Some are out of your control," he said Friday night. "You just have to go with the flow."
Brady is entering the final year of his contract.
There's a growing sense that Brady, who gave the Patriots a discount on his last deal, will be pushing for a blockbuster deal this time.
It's also expected that Peyton Manning's pending negotiation will affect the Brady talks.
"I really don't want to talk about it a whole lot, because there is nothing anybody can solve other than the team and myself," Brady said. "There are a lot of guys in my situation. Really, I just want to focus on what's coming up this week. I'm just excited being back on the field with the guys. ..
""I don't get into and I really haven't been thinking about it a whole lot. It's just part of the process. I love being out on the field with the guys, and playing. That's really where my head's at."
The Patriots seem confident that ultimately something will be worked out.
At least that was the organization's stance at the NFL owners meetings in March when owner Robert Kraft was asked about Brady.
"Let's put it like this: Tom Brady is going to be part of this franchise. He wants to be, we want him," Kraft said. "Great things happen in life if you're flexible and not rigid. We have to find a way to satisfy him and the team, and have a team that can win big-time. That's what it's about."
