The New York Jets have agreed to terms on a two-year deal with veteran running back LaDainian Tomlinson, according to the New York Daily News.
Tomlinson chose the Jets over a competing offer from the Minnesota Vikings.
Tomlinson was cut by the San Diego Chargers before free agency began.
In New York, he'll be a backup to Shonn Greene and operate as a third-down back.
Tomlinson visited both teams before flying back to San Diego on Saturday to discuss his options with his wife.
Tomlinson, 31, is regarded as a future Hall of Fame selection, but is coming off a career-low season.
Tomlinson rushed for 1,815 yards in 2006 to lead the league, but gained just 1,110 and 730 yards over the past two seasons.
Tomlinson is familiar with the schemes of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, whose four-year tenure in San Diego coincided with the star runner.

The Jets basically traded Thomas Jones for LT.
Hard to understand , even if you include the money.
Makes sense for the type of offense they want to run this year, they want to throw to the backs more, Greene is not a pass catcher at all and they dont really know yet if Leon will be healthy. TJ wasnt that great a pass catcher, LT is better at that part of the game. Basically a wash. If they can manage to get their hands on Marshall, they will be tough to beat next year.
