Tony Romo day-by-day with back injury

After having a CT scan performed on his back, Tony Romo will be day-by-day leading up to Dallas' game against Arizona this Sunday.

Romo injured his back during Monday night's 20-17 loss to Washington. He was taken into the locker room and missed two series before returning.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that whether Romo plays or not will depend on his pain threshold.

“It’s a day-by-day thing with Tony, we’ll see how he handles the pain and we’ll see how functional he is as the week goes on,” Garrett said, via the team's website. “We’ll see what his availability is for this ball game.”

Owner Jerry Jones previously said on a local radio station that no structural damage was done to Romo, in what's being called a back contusion. It's also been reported that this is a separate injury from the one that required offseason surgery.

The silver lining is that Brandon Weeden came in and led the Cowboys to 10 points in consecutive drives with Romo out. So if Romo is unable to play this week, the Cowboys will likely be confident in Weeden's ability to fill in for a week.

Of course, they'd rather have Romo out there. And Romo has played through some considerable pain before. This would have to bena incredibly painful injury for Romo to sit out.
