Trent Richardson expecting to improve this year

The Browns shocked the NFL landscape by trading Trent Richardson to the Colts before the third week of the regular season.

And the move actually made the Browns look smart as Richardson did not live up to the 2012 third-overall pick billing with the Colts. He was unable to mesh well, running for just 563 yards and three touchdowns (458 with the Colts) a season ago.

This year, Richarson is confident that he can make the next step in his career.

“Knowing the concept of a play is the biggest thing because when it comes down to it, if you just remember what you’re doing, that’s not good enough," Richardson told the Colts' team website. "I remembered the playbook last year. I know it now. I’m learning a lot this year.”

The Colts will hope Richarson lives up to the billing of a first-rounder this year. Otherwise, trading this year's first-rounder — which turned out to be the 26th overall pick — could be seen as a waste.
