Jaguars rookie agrees to terms Aaron Wilson
First-round defensive lineman Tyson Alualu has agreed to terms on a five-year, $28 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars that includes $17.5 million in guaranteed money, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation.
The Jaguars announced Sunday night that Alualu had agreed to terms, but the deal wasn't finalized until today when Alualu decided to accept his agent's recommendation that he take hte deal.
According to Alualu's agent, Kenny Zuckerman, his client prayed on the decision and consuled with his family before he agrees or signs off on his rookie contract.
Alualu is married with a son and a daughter and is extremely family-oriented and religious.
The Honolulu native lives by the motto: "God first, and everything else will fall into place."
Drafted 10th overall out of Cal-Berkeley, Alualu has drawn high marks for his aggressiveness and technique.
Alualu plays with a relentless motor and is the highest drafted player from Cal since Andre Carter was drafted seventh overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 2001.
Alualu recorded a sack in the Senior Bowl.
He started 39 consecutive games to finish his career, recording 195 career tackles, 26 for losses, 16 sacks, seven pass deflections, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries with one interception and one blocked kick.
Named All-Pac 10 last season, he posted 65 tackles, 7 1/2 sacks and 11 1/2 tackles for losses.
