The 2014 college football season—complete with the much-anticipated four-team playoff format—kicks off in just over 48 hours with a six-game slate of matchups that features two teams listed at 50/1 (South Carolina and Mississippi) or better to take home the sport’s top prize.
On Monday, the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas released their updated 2015 college football championship game odds with usual suspects Florida State (3/1), Alabama (9/2) and Oregon (6/1) at the top of the board. ON THE RISE
UCLA Bruins: The return of Heisman hopeful quarterback Brett Hundley and the upward trajectory of the UCLA program since the arrival of head coach Jim Mora have bettors backing a Bruins team that has moved from 20/1 in January to 10/1 entering September.
Georgia Bulldogs: Is this the year we can finally trust Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt to guide his team to the promised land? Georgia has been one of the biggest movers this offseason, dropping from 60/1 to 18/1.
USC Trojans: From Lane Kiffin to Steve Sarkisian…and from 50/1 to 30/1.
FALLING DOWN
Ohio State Buckeyes: Last week’s report that veteran quarterback Braxton Miller was lost for the season due to a shoulder injury moved the Buckeyes from 12/1 to 40/1…despite the fact that Ohio State still faces one of the easiest schedules in the country this season.
Arizona State Sun Devils: ASU made it all the way to the end of November with an impressive 10-2 record, but dropped their final two contests to Stanford and Texas Tech, respectively. The Sun Devils hit the board in January at a surprising 30/1, but that number has since been readjusted to the more accurate price of 100/1.
