Vince Young is a little bit behind the other quarterbacks in Buffalo in grasping the Bills' offense.
Some of that is to be expected, given VY's late arrival in Buffalo as a free agent signee. Of course, one of the knocks on Young in Tennessee was that he wasn't always the most studious of players, a trait that is not usually a good one for an NFL quarterback.
Bills coach Chan Gailey told the Buffalo News that Young is doing well given the circumstances. How much he catches up could play a part in his battle with Tyler Thigpen for the No. 2 QB job behind Ryan Fitzpatrick.
"He has done a very good job, considering the circumstances," Gailey said. "It would not have been as hard two years ago, but we are in so much more of an advanced stage now than we were two years ago. He is trying to learn what the base concepts are and how we have advanced to where we are today without the benefit of going through the baby steps."
