The Minnesota Vikings have hired Matt Sheldon as an assistant defensive backs coach.

It’s a homecoming of sorts for the veteran coach who played at the University of Minnesota and is from Schofield, Wis. Sheldon coached linebackers in Buffalo for the previous four seasons.

Before that, he was an assistant for the St. Louis Rams from 2001 to 2005 where he worked on special teams and with the secondary and linebackers, getting exposed to the Tampa Two that the Bills ran under Perry Fewell and that the Vikings employ under Leslie Frazier.

Good and bad. Nice to have him but this doesn't mean the line is "fixed" - we need quality depth and both of these guys have question marks. It does buy some time though.
