The Minnesota Vikings have serious need for help at wide receiver, a position of need even before trading Percy Harvin on Monday.
Now, they need some quality and quantity at cornerback as the team has released veteran Antoine Winfield.
Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN broke the news. It’s surprising because the Vikings don’t have a lot of depth at the position. But the move will save the club $7.25 million. Winfield is 35 and will turn 36 in June and he’s not the performer he once was. The Vikings credited Winfield with 101 tackles and 12 pass deflections last season. He made three interceptions.
It’s a good thing Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman is holding two picks in the first round.
