Vikings expected to be without Percy Harvin again

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder took some heat last Sunday following a 28-10 loss at Chicago.

The offense was lethargic and Ponder did not perform well, completing only 22 of 42 passes for 159 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He was shorthanded without top wide receiver Percy Harvin and it looks like the Vikings will surely be without Ponder again this week when they play at Green Bay.

According to Dan Wiederer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Harvin was not on the field when media was allowed to view practice today. That’s a bad sign for Harvin, who has been out all week and has not played since Nov. 4 with an ankle injury. The hope is he wouldn’t miss much time with thre Vikings on a bye two weeks ago, but he’s still not out there.

The Packers are shorthanded too, but not like the Vikings. Harvin leads Minnesota with 62 receptions for 677 yards. It will be difficult to evaluate Ponder until the Vikings improve the cast of players around him, specifically his skill players.
