That didn’t take long.
The Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with quarterback Matt Cassel this morning. This afternoon, he became a member of the Minnesota Vikings.
Cassel has agreed to terms of a contract to be the backup quarterback to Christian Ponder, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. That puts Cassel in a position where he is behind a young quarterback who has yet to establish himself in the NFL. While the Vikings are invested in Ponder, a former first-round draft pick, he’s yet to blossom and that probably made the situation appealing to Cassel.
Now, the Vikings have got to do something about finding wide receivers for Ponder and Cassel to target.
The Chiefs had tried to trade Cassel but after it was known they had a deal in place with the San Francisco 49ers for Alex Smith, there wasn't going to be a market for them.
