The Minnesota Vikings are still waiting to hear from LaDainian Tomlinson, but in the meantime they’ve had some success with one of their own, re-signing defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.
The veteran agreed to a two-year contract with a maximum value of $6 million, according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network.
Kennedy has reinvented himself as a valuable member of the rotation on the Vikings’ line after it looked like he was headed out of the league not long ago. He visited the Buffalo Bills this week where they probably would have looked at him to anchor the 3-4 scheme.
Now, he’ll be able to stick where he had some success last season, making three sacks as a role player. It was important for the Vikings to bring Kennedy back given the uncertainty surrounding Kevin Williams and Pat Williams. Their StarCaps case will be decided in May, and they could be facing four-game suspensions to begin the season.
