Vikings sign Linval Joseph

No team in the National Football League surrendered more points to the opposition last season than the Minnesota Vikings (30.0 pts/gm). And while the team has several pressing needs on both sides of the football, it makes sense that the Vikings would look to make some waves by acquiring a solid defensive starter in an effort to improve on last season’s shortcomings.

Per Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, the Vikings have acquired free agent defensive tackle Linval Joseph. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that it’s a five-year deal worth $31.5 million.

Joseph appeared in all but one of New York’s 48 regular season games over the last three years, notching 9.0 sacks, 20 quarterback hits and 17 tackles for loss.

By bolstering the interior of their defensive line, the Vikings should improve on the 110.4 yards per game the team surrendered on the ground last season (16th in NFL).
