The Minnesota Vikings own the 12th pick in the NFL draft and to be in position to select Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, the thinking is they will have to trade up several spots.
The Vikings will get a better feel for Gabbert when they meet with him for dinner tonight. According to Dave Matter of the Columbia Daily Tribune, the coach Leslie Frazier and personnel boss Rick Spielman will meet Gabbert for dinner and then they’ll get together again on Friday at the school’s football complex to review game film.
As the National Football Post reported Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers will put Gabbert through a private workout this weekend with coach Ron Rivera, general manager Marty Hurney and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski expected to attend. The Panthers hold the top pick in the draft and Gabbert is being discussed as a potential No. 1 selection.
The question is whether the Vikings treat Gabbert to some Shakespeare’s tonight?
