Linebacker Jonathan Vilma was out of the New Orleans' Saints practice again on Wednesday, a day after taking part in fully in practice on Tuesday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
A veteran player getting a day off here and there in camp is not unusual, but Vilma has now been absent in five of the Saints' past seven practices.
Saints coach Sean Payton offered no explanation or update on the status of Vilma or any other Saints players who sat out on Wednesday. Running back Pierre Thomas, who has been out with a leg injury, was back in a limited role on Wednesday. Cornerback Chris Martez also returned to practice.
UPDATE: Per ESPN.com, Vilma was flying to Philadelphia to get a second opinion on his yet-to-be-revealed injury.
