Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller acknowledged his mistake that led to him being arrested a week ago for failure to appear in court for multiple traffic violations.

“I should have taken care of it,” Miller told the Denver Post. “I should have stayed on top of everything and shouldn’t have let it develop into a distraction like it was. I’m not making excuses for it, I just have to be better.”

What happened?

“No excuses," Miller said. "In life it doesn’t matter how fast its going, you’ve got to be able to take care of stuff. It was a traffic ticket I should have taken care of a long time ago and I didn’t. I let it develop into a distraction and I shouldn’t have.”

Miller is appealing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL drug policy. His appeal is set for Tuesday.

If he's worried about the arrest affecting the appeal, Miller isn't letting on.

“I don’t think so,” he said. “I hope not.”
