WWE champ to Rodgers: 'Earn the right to wear [the belt]'

First Disney World. Then the Late Show with David Letterman. Next up, WrestleMania?

For Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, such is the life of a Super Bowl champion.

The Packers quarterback and game MVP continued his whirlwind schedule when he visited with Letterman on his CBS late-night show on Monday in New York. Perhaps the best moment of the interview was when the host asked the signal-caller if he was coming back next season — very likely a dig at former teammate Brett Favre, who made a habit of creating absurd offseason drama.

So did that famous championship belt make an appearance on the show? You bet it did — sort of.

Rodgers didn’t bring with him the belt that wrestling legend Ric Flair claimed to give, but Letterman offered the Packer a replica WWE championship belt — the “spinny” belt made famous by current wrestling star John Cena.

One wrestler who may have taken offense to Rodgers parading around with the prestigous hardware is The Miz. The current WWE champion composed the following Tweet on his Twitter page late Tuesday night:

Aaron Rogers congrats on the super bowl. Saw Letterman, the title fits u well come to Wrestlemania and earn the right to wear it.

With WWE chairman Vince McMahon traditionally going all-out for wrestling’s biggest extravaganza — the annual WrestleMania pay-per-view — will Rodgers be asked to attend the showcase?

We’ve seen everyone from Cyndi Lauper to Floyd Mayweather to Lawrence Taylor at Mania. Could Rodgers be next, and will he accept the “challenge” from The Miz?
