Chad Ochocinco’s absence from Cincinnati’s final offensive play of the first half in the season opener against New England didn’t just make headlines in NFL circles. It made its way into the world of professional wrestling, as well.
The Bengals wide receiver, reality TV star and lover of Twitter is hosting the season premiere of WWE Monday Night Raw in Cincinnati this evening. And midway through his opening promo in the center of the ring, Ocho was interrupted by WWE United States champion and Ohio native Mike “The Miz” Mizanin — simply The Miz to followers of the WWE.
After referring to the Bengals as the “Bungles,” proclaiming that Ocho will never win a championship and suggesting that the jersey number “85” reflects the number of dropped passes he will have this year, the brash grappler received the wideout's signature “Child, please” line.
Ocho then was able to get the last laugh when he selected the opponent for The Miz's Submission match this evening — submission-machine Daniel Bryan, whom The Miz will face in a title match at WWE’s next pay-per-view event.
And, no, Ocho did not leave his scheduled in-ring segment early with T.O. — in case you were wondering. Whether he will be around for the whole Raw show, however, is to be determined.
So are you glued to Ravens-Jets or sneaking a glimpse of Raw here and there? Don't be embarassed if you are tuning into wrestling. After all, the WWE does have divas.
