Washington hired former Cincinnati offensive coordinator Jay Gruden to be the team’s next head coach, according to multiple reports. Gruden takes over for Mike Shanahan, who was fired after the season. Gruden interviewed for the position on Wednesday and the team quickly began negotiations on a contract.

Washington General Manager Bruce Allen worked with Gruden’s brother Jon in both Oak-land and Tampa Bay.
