The Broncos were without receiver Wes Welker and tight end Julius Thomas during Wednesday's practice, according to the Denver Post.

Welker sustained a concussion in Sunday's win over the Chiefs. Thomas injured his knee and is day-to-day with what has been dubbed a strain.

Both players are integral parts of Denver's passing game. Welker has 648 yards and nine touchdowns. Thomas has 590 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Welker will certainly want to play this week given that the Broncos are taking on the Patriots in a much-anticipated AFC showdown. Welker chose the Broncos over the Patriots during free agency this past offseason.
