It appears that Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt could become the head coach of the Detroit Lions sooner than later.
According to a report from the NFL Network, Whisenhunt could be with the Lions as soon as Monday or Tuesday.
For some time, it's been reported that the Lions' open head coaching gig was Whisenhunt's to lose. Of course, for him to accept, the Chargers' season had to end. It did on Sunday, despite a valiant comeback in a 24-17 loss to Denver.
If Whisenhunt accepts the Lions job, he'd replace Jim Schwartz, who was fired at the end of the 2013 regular season.
