Let the politicking begin.
Four finalists are vying to grace the cover of NCAA Football 2012, the next edition of the popular video game from EA Sports. And college football fans can have their say by voting on one of their favorite stars from the 2010 season.
Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley, Alabama running back Mark Ingram, Washington quarterback Jake Locker and Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray are the candidates who are eligible for the honor, with open voting currently underway.
The obvious question is why the omission of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton? Perhaps the dual-threat Heisman Trophy winner couldn't agree to terms with EA Sports. Nonetheless, Auburn fans can vote for their Lombardi Award-winning defensive lineman, who likely will be one of the first names announced in April's NFL Draft.
Fans can vote on the cover here. The voting ends on April 4 with the winner being announced on April 19.
In the meantime, Oklahoma fans have started to produce some attack ads against Murray's competition. Check out the following video slamming Fairley. OU fans also produced a spot campaigning against Locker, and CBSSports.com reports that an anti-Ingram video is in the works.
