The Miami Dolphins need a viable replacement for veteran pass rusher Jason Taylor, who defected this offseason to the AFC East rival New York Jets.

In Taylor's opinion, Cameron Wake more than fits the bill.

Taylor contributed an article to the Sporting News where he gave a ringing endorsement of his former teammate.

“I think maybe five years from now, maybe one year from now, people in Miami will quickly forget about me and talk about Cameron Wake because I think he has that kind of talent," Taylor wrote.

Last season, Wake registered 5 1/2 sacks and one forced fumble.

A former CFL star, Wake is competing with Charlie Anderson and others with Koa Misi slated to start on the other side in the Dolphins' 3-4 scheme.

Even if Wake doesn't start, he figures to play a pivotal role as a pass rusher on third downs.

Anderson is in the lead for one of the starting positions.

The Dolphins have to replace Taylor and Joey Porter.

"It's tough to lose two Pro Bowl guys, two Hall of Fame caliber guys like them," Anderson told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "It's just another challenge in my career. I'm always up for challenges, and that's what this year is about. It's a challenge for me to not just make the team, but become a starter."

Over the past three seasons, Anderson has contributed 4 1/2 sacks, four forced fumbles and a safety.

"You want to be the starter, but anything can happen. I just go in every year like I'm competing for the starting job," he said. "My play will determine how much I play."
