Agent denies report that linebacker is retiring Aaron Wilson
The agent for Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Zach Thomas denied an ESPN report that Thomas is planning to retire.
APAgent Drew Rosenhaus has denied an ESPN report that Zach Thomas is planning to retire.
"Zach Thomas is not retiring," agent Drew Rosenhaus wrote on his Twitter account. "He is progressing from his injury & he fully expects to have a great season with the Chiefs in 09."
ESPN predicted that Thomas will either retire, be given an injury settlement or be released outright.
Thomas, who's due a $1 million base salary this year, was named the Chiefs' defensive captain. However, Thomas has been injured throughout training camp.
There's always the possibility that some gamesmanship regarding Thomas' status is going on behind the scenes.
It's unlikely though that the Chiefs will be disclosing anything about that since even the nature of Thomas' injury has been a taboo subject during news conferences this month.
