The Cincinnati Bengals placed defensive end Antwan Odom on injured reserve due to his torn right Achilles' tendon suffered against the Houston Texans, the team announced today.
Odom had surgery this morning.
Odom is tied for the NFL lead in sacks with Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil with eight.
Odom tied a Bengals game record with five sacks on Sept. 20 at Green Bay, and his seven sacks for the first two games this season were the most by any NFL player in the first two games of the season since 1982, when individual sacks became an official statistic.
Odom also had 23 total tackles and two pass deflections.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Domata Peko's knee injury isn't believed to be serious.
