In a move signaled by Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis when he offered faint praise to wide receiver Laveranues Coles during the NFL scouting combine other than complimenting him for his professionalism, the AFC North franchise cut Coles today.

The Bengals announced that they terminated Coles' contract, releasing him to free agency.

In 2009, Coles played his 10th NFL season and his first with the Bengals, catching 43 passes for 514 yards and five touchdowns.

He was due a $4.65 million base salary in 2010, according to NFL Players Association records.

Coles' speed has clearly declined and his production was substandard during his lone season with the Bengals.
