Bengals have tried out four long snappers this week Aaron Wilson
The Cincinnati Bengals' patience with long snapper Brad St. Louis is nearly at an end.
St. Louis has had four bad snaps over the past three games. That includes two poor snaps in a 23-20 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
So, the Bengals are looking at long snappers and have been pondering making a change.
The Bengals have reached the brink of their patience with long snapper Brad St. Louis.
According to a league source, the Bengals tried out long snapper Nathan Hodel on Tuesday as well as Ryan Neill on Wednesday and Bryan Pittman and Clark Harris on Thursday.
“We start from scratch or we roll; that’s something you have to ask them,” special-teams coach Darrin Simmons told Cincinnati reporters. “It’s an area of huge concern, but I have to trust that we’re going to get through it. It’s going to come down to where we’re putting the team in a precarious position. We’re making things too close at the end when they shouldn’t be. I’m not saying that’s the whole problem, but it’s a major contributing factor.”
“It’s a difficult decision because it affects everyone. The other part affects everyone, too, because we can’t execute. If you make the change, there’s never any looking back. It takes a certain matter of time to establish trust and timing. Once you do it, you move forward and don’t look back.”
So, St. Louis should be renting, not buying.
