The Cincinnati Bengals made it official, announcing the signing of former Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson.
APFormer Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is headed to Cincy.
Johnson was cut by the Chiefs following a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team after making derogatory remarks about coach Todd Haley and anti-gay slurs directed toward fans and reporters.
Johnson is being signed as an insurance policy behind leading rusher Cedric Benson.
Johnson has rushed for 6,015 career yards and has made two Pro Bowl appearances.
Johnson has rushed for 377 yards on 132 carries and added 12 receptions for 76 yards during an unimpressive season for the Chiefs.
He's scheduled to meet with reporters this afternoon.
To make room for Johnson on the roster, the Bengals cut defensive tackle Orien Harris.
