The Cincinnati Bengals signed veteran defensive back Keiwan Ratliff to a contract today, adding him to the roster heading into their AFC wild-card playoff game.
Ratliff tried out for the Bengals today along with former Indianapolis Colts safety Mike Doss, according to a league source.
Ratliff is a sixth-year pro who played in eight games for the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. He was drafted in the second round out of Florida by the Bengals in 2004 before being released in 2007.
The Bengals made room for Ratliff on the roster by placing defensive tackle Pat Simsm on injured reserve. Sims fractured his forearm against the New York Jets in the regular-season finale.
The Bengals also tried out defensive backs Courtney Bryan and Antwann Spann and linebacker Jim Maxwell.
