The Buffalo Bills have downgraded safety Donte Whitner (thumb surgery) and defensive tackle Kyle Williams (knee) to out, the team announced today.

Also out this week: quarterback Trent Edwards (concussion), fullback Corey McIntyre (knee), tight end Shawn Nelson (migraines) and offensive tackle Jonathan Scott (ankle).

The Bills will start George Wilson and Jairus Byrd at strong and free safety with Bryan Scott doubtful.

Ryan Fitzpatrick takes Edwards' place. And rookie Jamon Meredith will start in place of Scott.
