INDIANAPOLIS -- When a new coaching regime takes over an organization, change is always inevitable.

Does that axiom apply to Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch now that Chan Gailey is the coach?

Well, Gailey sounds like he's inclined toward running a two-back system with Lynch and Fred Jackson.

Given his shaky quarterback situation, can you blame the guy?

"Marshawn is an excellent football player," Gailey said today at the NFL scouting combine. "The guy's extremely talented, can catch the ball, can run it. He can run with power. He can get around the edge. He's a very good football player. I hope we're able to take him and use him."

Lynch has a history of off-field problems.

However, the Bills seem willing to give him a pass after a season that began last year with an NFL suspension.

With Jackson and Lynch, the Bills could have a formidable running tandem provided that they are able to overhaul the offensive line.

"I'm not so sure that today it doesn't take two quality guys to get you through a season," Gailey said. "We're finding that more and more and more in our league. The players are getting so much bigger and stronger and faster that the collisions are bigger every year. It takes you a couple guys to be able to get you through a year."

When asked how Lynch's personality meshes with the character Gailey is seeking for his team, the coach said he didn't know yet.

"I haven’t had a chance to meet with him," Gailey said. "He hasn’t been back in town. So I haven’t had a chance to talk with him. I hope I get a chance to do that here shortly."

Gailey added that he hasn't spoken yet to free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens.

"I have not talked to T.O yet," Gailey said. "We haven’t had conversations and just like all of our guys we’re still sitting there trying to decide exactly the best direction for everyone, exactly how we’re going to approach each one of them. There’s nothing new on that front."
