The Buffalo Bills made it official, introducing Chan Gailey as the 15th head coach in franchise history.
Gailey, 58, replaces former Bills head coach Dick Jauron who was fired in November.
Gailey was 18-14 as the Dallas Cowboys head coach in 1998 and 1999 with two playoff appearances.
He was fired last summer as the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive coordinator.
Gailey has spent 15 seasons in the NFL, including nine as a coordinator or head coach. As an NFL assistant, his teams posted a total record of 124-82-1. Gailey’s teams have advanced to the playoffs in 11 of his 15 seasons.
Gailey has previously been an offensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins.
He was recommended by former Steelers coach Bill Cowher, who spurned the Bills' attempts to interest him in their head coaching vacancy.
