New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady played a little defense this morning, sticking up for embattled star wide receiver Randy Moss.

Moss has drawn criticism lately with Carolina Panthers cornerback Chris Gamble alleging that Moss dogged it on Sunday.

Plus, Moss was sent home last week by Patriots coach Bill Belichick after showing up late for practice due to a snowstorm causing a major traffic jam.

“I think everyone takes liberty to say whatever they want to say in a situation like yesterday. I’ve seen plenty of plays made on Chris Gamble too over the course of the season,” Brady said this morning in a radio interview with WEEI. "When guys play Randy, they want to show everyone what they can do. I guess they came out of the game pretty confident. Randy is one of the best players in the history of the NFL. When it doesn’t go perfect out there, everyone wants to jump on Randy. It’s all of us, and we all have to do a better job."

Besides Brady calling Moss one of his good friends on team and emphasizing that he's one of the top receivers in the league, he said that it wasn't Moss' fault on a first-quarter interception where it looked like Moss didn't go all-out.

“There are always things that come up with receivers and quarterbacks," he said. "The quarterback, you throw it to a place where you think the guy is going to be, and Randy saw something, and he went to the place where he thought the ball was going to be. I don’t think you blame Randy on that.

"I’m the ultimate one responsible with the football. I hate games where I throw interceptions, especially against a team like that, a turnover-driven team.”

I am definitely going to disagree with Tom Brady on this one. Moss is showing his team and the Patriot fans who pay good money to go and see the team play football that he is a QUITTER. He quit playing in the past, especially in Minn. To say that he is just having a bad day might work some of the time; however, just look at his stats this year. He is a QUITTER!!!! Time for RK and BB to get rid of him AND anyone else who does not want to go out on the playing field and give 1000 percent to himself, his team AND the fans (who actually pay the salaries). Time to take that "C" from Moss and give it to Welker!!!!!!

It's very lame of Brady to stck up for Randy in this situation! Brady isn't being honest with his fans..It's so obvious moss was quitting, Brady shouldn't be covering for him just because they're friends! Lame Moss..Very Lame!

Moss IS a quitter. He has a history of it everywhere he's been. He has even admitted that he takes plays off, but that half-a$$ effort in their last game was embarassing. It's sad that one of the premier receivers in NFL hjistory doesn't have the heart to go with the talent. THAT is why he can't be mentioned in the same breath as Jerry Rice.

It bugs me when people say "The Packers could have traded for Moss, he would have been so great as a Packer!!" In truth, he's always been a bad guy and he has rarely ever given 100% (he has admitted publicly numerous times he gives less than 100%). Bill Belichick might be the only one to control him within a team's chemistry. Packer fans who think Moss would have played well in GB, and Mike McCarthy could have controlled his behavior are crazy!!

Oh how the QB and the coach will bend over for this guy Moss. And Moss is just the dude to make both grab their ankles and take them for a test drive around the block.

They know if he is to go in the tank they are done for sure and both Brady and the coach will drop to their knees and open wide for old Randy isf they think it might help them to keep from falling into the has been ranks of the NFL.

How sad, other NFL players around the NFL know if Randy is giving his all or not. And if he is not and they see Brady and the coach stand up for him while jumping down the throat of lesser players for much less it makes them look to talk out of both sides of their mouths.

That alond with what other NFL players have seen go on with players like Seymour along with New England falling to just an average team, the shine that once drew players to NE is becoming duller by the day.

So, other players around the league, who might profit by causing dissention on the Pats are to be believed over the QB. And the rationale is that the Pats don't want to slip into mediocrity? They're leading their division and headed for the playoffs. The fact that they aren't having the kind of year they had 2 year ago or 3 years ago is because Randy Moss is quitting? Are you out or you mind? And to the publishers of Bleacher Report, why are you letting this guy get away with using extremel crude and suggestive language. My kids read this. Maybe it's time to look for another Football Conversation site.

I think Randy and the Patriots will be fine. They are still leading the division and the defense is looking a lot better. Randy may be dealing with personal issues, instead of talking bad about him we should pray for his well being. Randy hang in there, your best game is yet to come. Tom Brady, you guys are a family and I feel Randy would speak up for you if the situation present itself.

Moss is doing it again. He got his feelings hurt and now is acting like the old MESS opps Moss. He wiill keep hirting this team like he has all the rest. Time to lose him FAST.

I can't wait for Randy to prove everybody wrong. It's funny how all these experts out there feel they can be certain on somebody's intention. It's ok for people to have their opinions, but to claim that they know when a player is dogging it by watching a couple of replays, is rediculous.

Ron is a Rascist. Wes Welker doesn't exist in a world without Moss.
