Wide receiver hoping for more deep throws Aaron Wilson
Count Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards among those glad that the coach changed quarterbacks to Derek Anderson.
Two years ago, Edwards caught 16 touchdown passes with Anderson at the controls.
"You know D.A., he's a guy who likes to throw the deep ball, likes to get the ball out," Edwards said. "I like to run deep routes, so it's natural he'd look for me in those situations."
As bad as things have been going, it doesn't look like the change could hurt.
"To be honest, we can't do any worse," Edwards said. "It sounds, I don't know, maybe it's bad to say, but I don't think we can play any worse than we did. I don't think we can go out there and go [have] another 34-3 game.
"I just don't see it happening. It's what I'm hanging my hopes on, just going out there and practicing hard."

Dude anderson sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me get this straight, Quinn is surounded by a bunch of third string x-jets and its his fault? Quinn threw 1 interception and had no opportunity to go deep -- no time to throw. Anderson comes in the second half and throws 3 interceptions and he is a better QB???? Maybe Quinn didn't throw deep because he is smart enough to identify triple coverage!!!!!!!
You must be a koolaid drinking lib to think there is logic in your way of thinking
as a lifelong browns fan...i wanted quinn to be the answer...but its clear to me that he's not. i realize the team sucks...but anderson gives us a better chance to win. what did it matter that he threw three int's when we were getting crushed. he had no choice but to sling the ball wherever he could at that point.
Hey g - I don't know what games you've been watching, but if you think Quinn showed any of the qualities of a successful NFL quarterback, then it must have been MADDEN 09.
Having said that, I'll also add that Anderson is also a lousy looking QB who had about a half dozen good games in 2007.
Now, the funny part of the article is that if Braylon Edwards didn't drop everything that Anderson threw to him last year, he might never have been benched.

Personally speaking, I thought the whole QB competition was a farce. Anderson has been the best QB on the Browns roster since 2006. If I remember correctly, it was Edwards and Winslow clamoring for the change to Quinn last year as the whole team struggled and they both dropped more passes than they were given credit for. Winslow caught a bunch of 5 yard passes and became Quinns go to guy, Edwards basically became a man missing in action, so much for the 5 hour energy and touchdown milk commercials.
Anderson wasn't healthy last year, what gets lost in all the poor play is that he suffered a concussion to start the season. I look for Anderson to play well, no looking over his shoulder, Quinn has proven with every snap he has taken, he is not an option. Hopefully Edwards will become relevant again. He is too easily taken away, elite receivers are expected to make exceptional plays, have a presence, force your will. The Browns get it turned around, moving forward building around Anderson.
