Safety dealing with recurring problem Aaron Wilson
Facing a recurring problem after suffering his fourth concussion, Cleveland Browns safety Brodney Pool might be out for the remainder of the year.
Browns coach Eric Mangini revealed the severity of the issue today.
"It's not looking positive,' Mangini told reporters today. "He won't play this week and there's a chance he won't be playing again this year.'
As far as whether Pool might retire because of the dangers of further head trauma, Mangini said topic hasn't been broached yet.
As for his replacement in the lineup, Mike Adams and Mike Furrey are up for the job.
Meanwhile, the Browns announced that Furrey had been chosen by his teammates as the 2009 recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award. The Ed Block Courage Award is an annual recognition given to a member of each of the 32 NFL teams who exemplifies the qualities of Ed Block, the former head trainer of the Baltimore Colts.
The qualities of courage, compassion, commitment and community serve as the criteria. All 32 winners will be honored at an event in Baltimore in March.
