The Denver Broncos have suspended wide receiver Brandon Marshall for conduct detrimental to the team, the team announced in an e-mail a few minutes ago.

Brandon MarshallAPMarshall's childish antics have gotten him suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.

The development isn't surprising considering Marshall's bad behavior at practice on Wednesday and how he wasn't at practice Thursday for unexplained reasons.

That absence likely stemmed from his actions on Wednesday and throughout this preseason.

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels was clearly agitated when asked about Marshall on Thursday.

Now, the Broncos have taken action against the disgruntled Pro Bowl wide receiver.

Marshall has repeatedly requested a trade and/or a contract extension.

It's obvious that the Broncos have no intentions of accomodating him.

On Wednesday, Marshall acted extremely childish.

And it was all captured on video.

Marshall was walking while everyone else is jogging during drills.

In an especially insolent action, he punted the football instead of handing it to a ball boy.

Bizarrely, Marshall refused to catch the football, batting it down to the ground while half-heartedly running pass patterns.

In an ESPN interview Thursday night, Marshall apologized for his behavior.

"I think everybody knows there's a lot of stuff built up there, and me handling it that way wasn't good," Marshall said. "I'm not out there trying to be a distraction to the team," Marshall said. "Unfortunately, yesterday I kind of let my frustration get the best of me."

However, it wasn't nearly enough for Marshall to ward off a suspension.

Under league rules governing player discipline, the longest suspension Marshall can be given is four games.

Yeah, Marshall acted like a punk. But he has a punk for a coach, too. McDaniels bit off more than he could chew this year. I don't like his attitude or his philosophy right now. I think McDaniels is a BUST. Idiot. I hope the Bears beat the $#!% out of the Broncos when the play - even if it IS just a preseason game.

you have to be high if you think this is mcdaniels' fault.

marshall has shown himself to be too stupid to continue playing in denver. suspend him, bench him, let him rot. he disrespected his team, his teammates, his fans and the city of denver.

good riddance

Am I the only one who thinks that McDaniels was brought in specifically by ownership to clean house and rebuild with "team" players? Why are so many people so anti-McDaniel? Did the Broncos let "talent" go? absolutely, and there is going to be more to go. Are they trying to build a team full of "team" players? Absolutely. Give this two years and they will be a viable franchise again for the first time in a while.

Normally I would side with the team in a situation like this, but not this time. First, we're not talking about a michael Crabtree, an unproven rook. Marshall is a bigtime receiver with the stats to back it up. How'd his off season go? The owner started things off by getting rid of one of the best offensive coaches in league history. To make things better he hired an unproven raw assistant from a program, the Pats, that has failed to produce one successful spin-off head coach. Tthen the new head coach managed to alienate the team's franchise QB, leading to a trade. Then the team managed to make a total mess of the draft, wasting a first rounder on a RB among other blunders. Their QB is a career backup underachiever. Oh yeah, it's Marshall's contract year to boot, and it's pretty obvious he can forget repeating his past gaudy stats. Then the team decides to play hardball when he wants to extend his deal. With things totally in the crapper, they also refuse to trade him, even though they couldn;t get Cutler out of town fast enough. When he was acquitted of a criminal charge, the team PR geniuses cautioned players to low key it. No bad blood there, right?

So yeah, if I'm Marshall I'm pissed. The team could try to salvage something out of this by trading him, but given that they've done nothing remotely intelligent since the season ended, they probably will let this turn into a season long distraction.

Brandon is not helping his case right now. He is acting the way everyone has him preceived. He may have been paid if he shut his mouth and played football. These problems we see today are a reflection of letting the money hungrey agents getting to involved with there clients. They are suppost to negotiate contracts and maybe get players indorsements. There not suppost to cause controvercy by demanding more money on contracts they signed. They can only blame themselves because they worked the contract the players are playing on, on for how many years. Players have the responsibility to determen if the agent is working in there best interest. Marshall's agent is working the background, while Marshall is acting like a child. I hate to say that, because most children don't act as idiotic as he is doing now. Everyday that passes, he is costing himself money and years on a new contract next year. Cutler situation was started the same way, with the agent running his mouth and stering up his client. Once the contract is signed, the agents need to go back to the hole the came from. They shouldn't be involved with team maters, and let the people who need to talk, work things out. So, get of McDaniel's back and let him do what he is paid to do, win football games. If you have to blame someone, start with the agent.
