The Cleveland Browns were awarded defensive lineman Titus Adams off waivers today, the team announced.

Adams was cut by the New England Patriots on Thursday.

To make room for Adams on the roster, the Browns cut offensive lineman Scott Kooistra again.

Originally drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round in 2006, Adams spent the first 13 weeks of that season on the Jets’ practice squad before being signed to the New York Giants’ active roster.

After being released by the Giants, he spent time with both the San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals before being signed by the Patriots last season. He spent all of 2008 and the first 13 weeks of this season on the Patriots’ practice squad before being elevated to the active roster on Dec. 9. He saw action in two contests, posting three tackles, while being inactive for one other.

Adams played collegiately at Nebraska.
