The Cleveland Browns have confirmed that general manage George Kokinis is out.

In a statement that neither confirms or denies that Kokinis was fired, the Browns announced that Kokinis is indeed no longer with the team.

The Browns did deny that Kokini was escorted out of the building by security or human resources representatives.

"Cleveland Browns General Manager George Kokinis is no longer actively involved with the organization," the team said in a statement e-mailed tonight. "In response to rumors and reports that Kokinis was escorted out of the building today, the Browns deny those reports. In the interest of protecting the parties involved we will withhold further comment."

It sounds like someone might be concerned about a potential lawsuit and/or the team's reputation in league circles.

According to FOXSports.com, Kokinis was fired "with cause."

Under that statement, the Browns may be trying to get out of owing Kokinis the remainder of his contract.

Browns owner Randy Lerner is already on the hook to pay roughly $20 million to former general manager Phil Savage and former coach Romeo Crennel.

More corporate foolishness. Did they really need to have him escorted out by a cop? And that is a good usage of the taxpayers money in Cleveland? And now Lerner is trying to make up stuff to get a "for cause" firing so he won't have to pay the man? Fraud if ever there was a case.

Look, the Cleveland, Oakland, Detroit, and Washington "teams" (loosely used there) are being held hostage from their great fan bases. The new "barons" know that the fans thirst for a winner and luv their teams. Of course the fans are mostly trying to recapture something that they once had in those teams though those days are long gone- and never to return. We are in the corporate hostage/hostile takeover phase of American sports.

And the ransom? Ticket sales, TV revenue, corporate suites, taxpayer-funded stadiums, etc, etc, etc. And the worst part is that the ransom will be paid without the hostages/teams EVER being returned to the fans. So, sit tight folks, the greatest hostage situation in written history is underway. With no end in sight.
