The Cleveland Browns announced a few minutes ago that former Seattle Seahawks general manager and coach Mike Holmgren has agreed to join the organization as club president.

Over the weekend, Holmgren turned down an opportunity to return to the Seahawks because he wouldn't be reporting directly to owner Paul Allen.

With Holmgren taking over the Browns' football operations, Mike Keenan is moving to the new role of chief financial officer.

“We are pleased to announce that Mike Holmgren has agreed to join the Cleveland Browns,” owner Randy Lerner said in a statement. “We will spend the rest of the week finalizing the details of the agreement and will make a formal announcement next week, at which time we will make him available to the media.”

It's not immediately clear whether Holmgren's arrival will spell the departure of coach Eric Mangini, but it's obviously a strong possibility.
