Report says trade talks are afoot Aaron Wilson
The Cleveland Browns could be in the trading business.
What's their target?
Quarterbacks.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns are involved in discussions regarding obtaining one or more quarterbacks "on different levels."
The report references potential quarterback targets such as Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb of the Philadelphia Eagles or Matt Hasselbeck of the Seattle Seahawks.
The report states that backup quarterback Derek Anderson is expected to be off the team before he's due a $2 million signing bonus March 19.
It doesn't rule out the prospects of trading quarterback Brady Quinn, the former Notre Dame standout.
What does it all mean?
It means that the new sheriff in town, Mike Holmgren, and his lieutenant, Tom Heckert, have come to a conclusion that the quarterback situation is inadequate and sorely in need of an upgrade.
Whether they are able to overhaul the position remains to be seen, but it sounds like they won't lack for motivation or effort.

Would the Browns give up the 7th pick for Kolb?
Eagle Fan- You bring up a good question. I bet almost everyone would say the 7th overall pick was too much for Kolb, but if Kolb was put into this draft as a Free Agent, the 7th pick would be a steal.
Its a dynamic Ive always disagreed with. Why take an unproven college kid and pay him $40M when you can probably send that pick to Philly and pay him $30M.
That said, if you're the Eagles you probably want to trade McNabb over Kolb anyway.
If the Eagles have any sense at all Kolb will not be traded period , much better to move Mc Nabb while he still has some value . Kolb is the future which may have already arrived .
I see the point about the 7th pick. But the Browns need more than a QB. I am sure they want to trade for a QB and keep their pick for a defensive guy or running back. But why is everyone giving up on Quinn? He hasn't started that long, and he was in a new offensive system. He has more experience than Kolb. Why do people think if Kolb walks through the door the automsphere will change. Still need people aroud the QB to win.
bad deal

I hope the deal is for Kolb, but I think it's more likely for Hasselbeck. Also, I wouldn't be shocked to see either (or all) Brady Quinn, D'Qwell Jackson, or Shaun Rogers get sent out of town. Funny, our run defense improved without the latter two playing defense last year. They can do better.
