In addition to promoting rookie linebacker Marcus Benard to the active roster from the practice squad, the Cleveland Browns also signed tight end Evan Moore and wide receiver Chris Williams to the practice squad.
Tight end Colin Cloherty was cut from the practice squad.
Moore, who was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints last year, was waived by the Saints on May 13 and then signed by the Green Bay Packers on May 22.
He spent the entire 2008 season on injured reserve and was waived by the Packers on September 5, 2009. A four-year letterman at Stanford University, Moore appeared in 38 contests and finished his career with 103 receptions for 1,555 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Miami Dolphins this spring, Williams was waived by the Dolphins on Aug. 23.
A three-year starter at New Mexico State University, Williams finished his career as the Aggies’ all-time leader in receiving yards (3,555) and touchdown receptions (32).
