The Cleveland Browns promoted rookie linebacker Marcus Benard to the active roster today, moving him up from the practice squad.
Benard is an undrafted free agent from Jackson State.
Cut during the Browns' final major roster cutdown, Benard has been on the practice squad all season.
He played defensive end at Jackson State, but plays outside linebacker for the Browns.
Meanwhile, the Browns still have another roster vacancy.
Browns coach Eric Mangini said today that he'll hold some tryouts on Tuesday.
Also, the starting quarterback will be announced Wednesday.
It's unclear whether the Browns will go back to Brady Quinn or continue to go with a struggling Derek Anderson.
There was no update on the status of linebacker Eric Barton, who's dealing with a serious neck injury that could end his season.
