The Cleveland Browns signed veteran free agent tight end Michael Gaines, a former Chicago Bears player, today.
Gaines is a former Carolina Panthers seventh-round draft pick, selected in the 2004 NFL draft.
Gaines has also played for the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder caught a career-high 25 passes for 215 yards ad two touchdowns in 2007 with the Bills.
Gaines was cut by the Bears over the weekend following Chicago trading for defensive end Gaines Adams.
