The Cleveland Browns worked out veteran inside linebacker Rocky Boiman today, according to a league source.
Boiman wasn't immediately signed to a contract.
However, Boiman could be an option this week since the Browns don't play until Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens.
Eric Barton was placed on injured reserve today with a bulging disc that will likely require surgery to repair the damage.
Boiman is no stranger to the Midwest having grown up in Cincinnati and playing at Notre Dame.
He was cut by the Tennessee Titans earlier this season, spending roughly one month with them before being cut Sept. 4.
Drafted in the fourth round by Tennessee in 2002, Boiman has registered 253 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and three forced fumbles in seven NFL seasons.
Besides the Titans, Boiman has had previous stints with the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
