Running back shuffle in Kansas City Aaron Wilson
The Kansas City Chiefs promoted running back Javarris Williams to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced today.
Running back Kolby Smith was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Williams is the Chiefs' seventh-round pick this year out of Tennessee State. He spent the first 11 games of the regular season on the practice squad.
He rushed for a school-record 4,329 yards with 42 touchdowns. He also added 58 receptions for 788 yards with two scores.
Smith has struggled with injuries this season.
In nine career starts for the Chiefs, he has rushed for 540 yards and caught 34 passes for 209 yards with nine special teams tackles.
