Wilson: Chiefs tell LJ to stay home

Running back's words have gotten him in trouble Aaron Wilson

Apparently, Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson's apology wasn't enough to make amends with team management.

Shortly after Johnson released a lengthy statement apologizing for his deriding comments about coach Todd Haley on his Twitter account as well as gay slurs directed toward fans and reporters, the Chiefs issued a statement announcing that Johnson isn't going to be practicing or doing anything else team-related until the NFL and the team complete an investigation into Johnson's remarks.

It's not technically a suspension, and it's not without precedent. The Chiefs operated in a similar manner regarding Johnson when they benched him last year following a series of off-field altercations and arrests.

"The Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League are continuing to investigate the alleged comments made by Larry Johnson," the team said in an uncredited statement. "Until that review is complete, the Chiefs have instructed Larry to refrain from practicing with the Chiefs or participating in other team activities. A decision regarding Larry’s status will be made once the investigation has concluded."

Maybe if the coach was as worried about how his players played rather than what they said they might win a few more games. I would give 80-1 odds that the coach has used the word fagot more than once in his life and if he says he did not he is not only a bad coach but a lier as well.

Diana, you realize you are defending a complete and utter idiot right? To top that off he sucks as a RB anymore. The Chiefs would be best served to cut him and move on. Just a matter of time before this dumb*ss squanders his money and ends up in prison anyway.

If this were the first offense by LJ, a lot of people might think about it and treat it differently. Unfortunately it's just another in a long list of offenses by a former NFL "star" that's fading rapidly. Time to give others, that might even have good character, an opportunity. You might want to request that the NFP put a spell check feature on their comment section before you defend an obvious criminal.

Barring Larry Johnson from team activities is a punishment in what sense? It seems like more of a gift than anything else. Does the "incident" really need further investigation? He either said it or he didn't. Thats the wonderful thing about the internet...there is proof. Hard to believe that a coach like Haley is having a hard time finding success with the Chiefs. How many Cardinals players have lamented the loss of there Offensive Coordinator that was a member of the Super Bowl team from last year? One of these days commentators and jaded football experts will stop referring to the Chiefs as such a great organization and call them for what they are. A team with a recent history of terrible coaching hires.
