Former Notre Dame coach to join Chiefs Aaron Wilson
The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis to become their new offensive coordinator, according to ESPN.
Per the report, Weis could be announced within the next day or two.
Chiefs coach Todd Haley, who fired offensive coordinator Chan Gailey during the preseason and assumed play-calling duties, praised Weis heavily during a press conference today.
His comments were made prior to ESPN's report about Weis' pending employment in Kansas City.
"He's a coach that system-wise, I would say we're as close as you can be," Haley said. "Charlie's a guy I consider a friend and I've talked to throughout the year, no different from some of the other guys I lean on for things and advice."
Weis and Haley worked together with the New York Jets.
And Weis was formerly the New England Patriots' offensive coordinator, so he has strong ties with Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli.
