Tight end has prior stint with Giants Aaron Wilson
The New England Patriots' pipeline to Kansas City didn't pan out for wide receiver Joey Galloway, but it did lead to a tryout late this week for former Patriots tight end Michael Matthews.
Cut by the Patriots this week after being acquired for a conditional 2011 draft pick from the New York Giants, Matthews is hoping to catch on In Kansas City.
Matthews signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2007 out of Georgia Tech, playing in the Super Bowl as a reserve.
Because he was cut, the Patriots don't owe the Giants a draft pick.
Matthews has caught eight career passes for 54 yards and no touchdowns.
