Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett has agreed to terms with the Indianapolis Colts and is traveling to Indianapolis this morning to sign his contract, a league source confirmed.
The Colts were in major need of a wide receiver following the knee injury to Anthony Gonzalez.
And, per a league source, the Colts worked out three wide receivers on Wednesday before striking a deal with Baskett after he cleared waivers.
The Colts worked out D.J. Hackett, David Patten and Chad Jackson.
Ultimately, they went with Baskett, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound downfield target and special-teams standout.
Before he was let go by Philadelphia, several teams contacted the Eagles about prospective trades for Baskett.
That included the Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns,Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a league source.
Baskett caught one pass for six yards Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. For his career, he has registered 72 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns.
Baskett received the second-round restricted tender of $1.545 million this year, so he went unclaimed on waivers.
In 2006, Baskett became the second rookie in NFL history to post two touchdown receptions of 85 yards or more in a single season since the Green Bay Packers' Billy Howton did so in 1952.

So, at least six teams contacted the Eagles to inquire about a trade for Hank Baskett, and the Eagles just released him? They couldn't even get a 6th or 7th round pick for a guy who had two TDs of 85 yards or more as an undrafted rookie? What gives? This smells very fishy, as does the apparent conclusion that the Colts were *not* one of the teams to contact the Eagles about Basket ... very odd.
